i think there are still a lot of improvement that we need to attract tourists to Indonesia. From the infrastructure(roads, airports, tourists attraction), security until the marketing area, like advertising. In my opinion, the slogan of Visit Indonesia does not really appealing to attract tourist because our national awakening doesn‘t really related with tourism. We must create something new and more creative that can take an emotional appeal to tourists hence they want to come to visit Indonesia. Maybe we must learn from another country like Malaysia and Singapore which are one step forward making their country as one of a great tourist destination in Asia.

ReplyDeleteBut, to comment the article in the "Jakarta Globe.com", I think, there is also true that Indonesia is one of the country one of the cheapest and the best to be a tourism industry.
for example: we have Bali island, and then now the government is developing the other island like Bintan Island, Komodo Island, and many more.
Indeed, at this time of Global Economic Crisis suffered almost throughout the country cause the other people think to save their money. But when they want to do the traveling, I think, If the people from the Big Countries, like America, European Countries, Japan, & the others come to Indonesia, they can get good service with the lower price.
I think that is enough from me ....

ReplyDeleteWell,i also agree with anissa. To attract tourist to visit indonesia is not easy like attract them to Bali as an example. What i mean is that we must attract tourist to visit our country indonesia.
ReplyDeleteBut,when they go to bali, we do not need to attract them because they will come by themselves to see what bali has like tari kecak,sight seeing(sunset),beautiful beaches and many more that bali has and the important one that this tourist looking for is memorable experience that they can bring home.
Actually indonesia also has a lot of tourist attraction but of course not many like bali has.Example,lombok. But the government does not want to use it to attract tourist so that's why we must use the slogan of visit indonesia.
In my opinion,what annisa say is correct. we must use other country as an example or leader so that our country also can improve better than before. Beside that,we must also create something new,creative,unique, new atmoshphere so that tourist will not get bored and want to visit our country again,Indonesia.

Using just “Visit Indonesia 2009” is certainly a big improvement over last year’s “Celebrating 100 Years of National Awakening”. No foreigner knew what that meant; it seems more likely to have been decided by a SMA history teacher than a tourism professional.

But, we can do better. “Malaysia, truly Asia” has been a big success for Malaysia, but Indonesia has more beaches, more jungles, more cultures and cuisines than Malaysia. But, of course the problem is not just a slogan. The problem is that Indonesia does not really welcome foreigners very well. The people could not be friendlier, but the government is not interested in making people feel welcome.
The Indonesian Tourism officials do not seem to be able to see things from the perspective of a tourist from a rich country. When a tourist arrives, he stands in line to get a visa on arrival and then stands in line again to have the visa inspected. The maximum visa on arrival is 30 days, which is a very short period of time to see a country of thousands of islands. Europeans sometimes get much more vacation than that per year. Only Bali seems to have the infrastructure for upper end tourism. Jakarta and Jogjakarta are close.
But most of Indonesia lacks trustworthy taxi drivers, high quality hotels, and decent roads to the tourist attractions, clean beaches and clean public toilets.
Indonesia has many of attractions..... but,the way of indonesian people to advertise is to low....

about the infrastructure and the superstructure... in jakarta is most problem is bad traffic jam.. many tourist complain that in case a lot of their time waste in traffic jam...
and also many of taxi driver not much know about place which tourist attraction....
and about the visit indoneia.. the goverment only advertise indonesia about that, but at the real many people doesn`t know about that....
it is prove that the goverment not seriously in tourism...
Well, I really agree with annisa opinion. I think that Indonesia still a lot of improvement to make Indonesia better especially in tourism industry. First, if we wanted to develop tourism in Indonesia I think we need to improve the infrastructure and the superstructure. Because, without infrastructure and superstructure we cannot serves the customer with very well. I think Indonesia especially Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia has a lot of problems with environment. For example, just like Christian said the most problem in Jakarta is traffic jam and also flood in everywhere. I think those problem gave a bad image for Indonesia. I guess some of the people in government at Indonesia don’t really care about Indonesia situation especially in tourism industry. Why did I say that, because as we can see most of tourist from foreign country only knew about Bali. Matter fact they don’t know anything about Indonesia. Why this can be happen? because, the government doesn’t try to improve another province in Indonesia. For example, like lapindo hot mud case in Sidoarjo. This is prove that government in Indonesia doesn’t really care to their people. How come the government in Indonesia can pay attention to the tourism in Indonesia, if they don’t care with their people.
ReplyDeleteAfter I reading the article I agree with the article some sentences are describe the Indonesia .I would like to talk about the positive of tourism in Indonesia. Tourist like to go to Indonesia because of the price is very cheap and there are a lot of attraction like Asian Beach Game in Bali, it fact the foreign and sport tourism. Beside the event in Bali there are lots of natural and beautiful scenery like beach and fauna. In addition there is lots of disaster tourism after tsunami there are many tourist and scientists went there.
ReplyDeleteHowever in the article it state that in Indonesia have to be improved like security for domestic and foreign tourist, in addition abut the security tourist are afraid using the public transportation like bus, train and others because of thief or robber.
Beside that tourist are afraid from terrorism, like bomb in Bali or JW Marriot.
The infrastructure and the superstructure are not enough and marketing is very weak
Like Malaysia “Malaysia truly the Asia” tours will be easily to remember.

the truth is Indonesia is a rich country, there so many tourist attraction out there that can attract tourist from the foreign country. but the government is should make the advertising more interesting then before. all of the city in Indonesia has a unique environment that can easily attract the tourist. i ever heard the governments are argument about the picture for the advertising in visit Indonesia 2009, for example when government from west Java did not agreed with government from east Java because he will put the picture in advertising that show a symbol one of the tourist attraction in east Java, that means we as Indonesian people, not yet appreciate what we have,how our tourism can develop,if this the way we show our culture?. they only think about the profit that they will get, but not thinking about how the tourist from foreign country will proud with indonesian culture.

like what all my friends said, indonesia needs improvement in the infrastructure and the superstructure.and also like what ditta said, while indonesia is a rich country, the people have to use the richness to improve things in order to be a better place for tourists.
ReplyDeleteindonesia should create something new to attract tourists and create new slogan which is more interesting than just "visit indonesia".tell people more about the beauty and the uniqueness of indonesia.although mukti said that it is an improvement of indonesia by using the slogan "visit indonesia 2009", i think it's still not creative enough.it needs a simple words with lots of meaning in it.
so basically i think, indonesia's slogan should be changed to something more interesting, and government should really be helping in order to modernized indonesia.also make use of the richness in indonesia to create a better/attractive place to be visited.

ReplyDeleteBased on people's perspective, they think Indonesia is located in Bali not vice versa. They are not aware that Bali is a part of Indonesia. Don’t you guys agree that we should clarify this that they should have known Bali is a part of Indonesia?
ReplyDeleteCompared to other countries, Visit Indonesia still can’t be considered as success campaign to be a magnet for foreign tourists. We should carry out more upgrading, expansion to improve perfection of Indonesia. To do this, we should first identify the comments or feedback from people of other foreign tourists, comparing year to year for progression. On the other hand, we should be updated with modern changes that occur in the world, no matter what they are such as technological advancements, people’s behaviours or beliefs. Keeping track with number of tourists who visit Indonesia is also a significant factor to maintain the number of visitors.
After identifying, we must do our best to correct the mistakes or try to satisfy tourists from their ‘’not so good’’ comments. Improving on public circumstances, by developing new security system is important. I agree with transportation and superstructure improvements that have been mentioned above. Developing more tourist attractions is also a powerful method. Indonesia is undoubtedly rich for its natural heritage or attractions. So let’s move on to modernized world shall we? Do you guys know that China has just developed new great changes? Such as, the new mall” that has been constructed with LCD 250m long 30 m wide larger than football field in Beijing. Moving on to a “love your earth” factor, China has developed a new recycling machine for trash bin. Therefore, this can make people not to throw garbage everywhere. On every trash that you throw into the new recycling machine, we can receive 0.1 yuan or Rp.132,- not bad isn’t it?
So guys, this newly developed mall and new developed machine has contributed to tourism factor. Who are not curious in visiting this great mall? Indonesia should open its mind to see what others are doing, and improve.
i agree, indonesia should improve the infrastructure because indonesia in fact have many amazing tourism, outside some country or people look indonesia have a great beach in kalimantan and they always go there, but indonesian people actually didn't know about that place which is located in kalimantan, indonesia. tourist make that place some infrastructure, the road, transportation, facilities etc. without help from government.
